MARYLAND GENEALOGICAL SOCIETYOur Society's Roots
![]()
This is a very early photograph of a meeting of the Maryland Genealogical Society probably dating to the early 1960s. Only a few of those in attendance have been identified: Seated at the head of the table, directly in the center is Mr. Harrison Daniels, the Society's first president. Moving to the left of the photo is his wife Katherine and next to her Ella Rowe, our long-time member and current Corresponding Secretary. Seated on the opposite side of Mr Daniels is Raymond B. Clark, Jr. Both Ms Rowe and Mr Clark have also served as previous presidents of the organization.
Standing directly behind Mr. Daniels are Mr. and Mrs. Armond Motzinger and Margaret Neal. Also in the back row, third from the left is Ms. Mary K. Meyer.
The gathering was held at the former Stafford Hotel. Mr. Robert H. Cree, the Society's second president, donated this photograph and is seen above in the back row, fourth from the left next to Ms. Mary K. Meyer.
