Dear Shirley F. Litrenta:

With respect to your query #44-07 in the MGS Bulletin Summer 2003 issue, p. 397, concerning Isaiah TAYLOR of Harford County, the following brief summary of his paternal line as it appears from my Taylor research may help you:

probable parents: Robert TAYLOR, b. 16 Aug 1751, d. ca. 1804, and his first wife Isabella SMITH [Isaiah was next of kin on Robert's inventory and his son was named Henry Smith TAYLOR]

grandparents: James TAYLOR, b. 11 Jan 1713, d. ca. 1777, and his second wife Sarah KIMBLE

great-grandparents: Laurence TAYLOR d. 11 Nov 1727, & his first wife Agnes MONTAGUE

great-great grandparents: Laurence TAYLOR, bur. 23 Jul 1699, transported to Md 1668, & his wife Dorothy -- Isaiah presumably was born in Bush River Neck.  As Robert's son his siblings would include Sarah, James, and Joseph TAYLOR, listed in the 1776 census of Spesutia Lower Hundred. 45-02. BUSH, OSBORN, OSBURN. Shadrach/k or Shadrich/k BUSH (Sr.) was in Baltimore Co., MD by 16 Feb. 1761 when he purchased, from the Province of  Maryland, 50 acres of Land named Mothers Friendship.  Shadrach was m. to Sarah OSBORN/OSBURN before 23 Mar. 1768 when he and Sarah had their only known child Shadrach BUSH, Jr. In 1776 Shadrach purchased 2 1/4 acres named Flat Bottom.  In addition on 09 Oct. 1776 he  was assigned 32 acres of land named Laurel Hill that had earlier been assigned on 25 Sep. 1776 to Sarah OSBORN.  On 23 March 1778, Shadrach BUSH of Pipe Creek, Baltimore Co. refused to sign the Oath Of Allegiance.  According to Bush Family Oral History some time thereafter Shadrach BUSH, Sr. returned to his home county, to take care of some business, and was never heard from again.  We have been unable to determine when and from where Shadrach came to the Americas.  I found Bush families in other MD counties as early as 1733 and am wondering if there could be a connection to our Shadrach.  We are currently a group of eight Bush descendants compiling a book.  Do any members have any information or ideas that they could supply to assist us in determining the history of our Shadrach? Martha D. Bush-Blocker B-576 mdbb@adelphia.net 1652 Mount Vernon Street Petersburg, VA 23805-1322

45-03. OSBORN, OSBURN, BUSH, SULLIVAN. Sarah OSBORN/ OSBURN was probably born in Baltimore Co., MD.   She was married to Shadrack BUSH, Sr. by  23 Mar. 1768 when their only known child, Shadrach/Shadrick BUSH, Jr., was born on 23 March 1768 in Baltimore Co., MD.  Per Bush Family Oral History Sarah had Native American Indian ancestry and was of the same family line as Pocahontas.  Sarah OSBURN received 32 acres of land named Laurel Hill on 25 Sep. 1776, which I believe was through inheritance.  On 09 Oct. 1776 she  assigned this land to a Certain Shadrick BUSH.  Sarah BUSH wrote her Last Will and Testament on 16 Oct. 1816, it was probated on 07 June 1818.  As a result of combining facts and clues I have come to believe that Sarah's parents were John OSBURN (Sr.) and Mary SULLIVAN who were married on 14 Dec. 1732 in St. Paul's Parish, Baltimore Co., MD, and had brothers John OSBORN, Jr. b. abt. 1733; Daniel Sullivan OSBORN b. abt. 1734; and Joseph OSBORN b. 17 Dec. 1735.  I have found the Osborn family in Baltimore Co. as early as 1699.  We are currently a group of eight Bush-Osborn descendants compiling a book.  Do any members have any information, or ideas, that they could supply to assist us in determining the history of our Sarah and her family? Martha D. Bush-Blocker B-576 mdbb@adelphia.net 1652 Mount Vernon Street Petersburg, VA 23805-1322

TANNEHILL. Re: response in MGSB 44-1, p. 117: This mentions my 1992 Tannehill family typescript. I regret to say the line presented there is largely faulty, thanks to my naive reliance on the badly flawed "Genealogical History of the Tannehills, Tannahills and Taneyhills" privately published by J. B. Tannahill in about 1940.  This same material was repeated and unfortunately expanded in my subsequent "Hamilton Family of Prince Georges County Maryland."  I am happy to say that with the generous help of some M.G.S. members, the majority of the errors have been described.  The latest thinking on the PG County Tannehills can be found in my 2001 "Supplementary Volume to the Hamilton Family of PG County." Copies are to be found in the library of the Maryland Historical Society and the Maryland Archives in Annapolis, as well as genealogical collections in Kingwood and Morgantown WV, and Uniontown and Waynesburg PA.
