2019 Slate of Candidates
 
President: Druscilla Null
Druscilla “Dru” Null has been researching her ancestors in Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia for almost 40 years. Currently serving as Webmaster for MGS, Dru has been a Board Member since 2006. During that time, she has served as President (2009-2011; 2015-2017) and Vice President (2007-2009) of the Society. For her contributions to MGS, particularly in coordinating the development and maintenance of the “new” MGS website, she received a Certificate of Merit from the Society in April 2014. Of her activities as a Board member, Dru is particularly proud of her work on the website and on the digitization of the Maryland Genealogical Society Bulletin. She has contributed two articles to the Maryland Genealogical Society Journal: “‛My Father Was of German Extraction’: Babe Ruth's Ruth/Rüdt Ancestors” and “Confirming the Place of Origin and Identity of German Immigrants: A Baltimore Case Study Using German Church Records." Dru graduated with honors from the National Genealogical Society Home Study Course and completed the National Institute on Genealogical Research (now known as the Genealogical Institute on Federal Records). 
 
Vice President: Heather O'Hara
Heather O’Hara, a Maryland native, has been researching her family’s history for over fifteen years focusing on Maryland, Virginia, and Pennsylvania as well as Northern Ireland, Germany, and Ukraine. She currently serves as an At-Large Board Member of the Maryland Genealogical Society and was responsible for planning our recent Spring Luncheon. Heather is a past Vice President of the Anne Arundel Genealogical Society, where she was responsible for sourcing and booking monthly speakers as well as managing that portion of the society’s monthly meetings.  She has taken several courses with both NGS and NIGS and has done extensive research at both the Maryland State Archives and the Library of Virginia. Heather has attended numerous conferences and seminars on the national, regional, and local levels. She is a member of DAR, NGS, APG, MGS/MHS, The Virginia Genealogical Society, the genealogical/historical societies of Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Harford, and Stafford (VA) Counties, and the Jewish Genealogy Society of Maryland.
 
Treasurer: Allender Sybert
Allender Sybert has been active in genealogical research and in the Maryland Genealogical Society for many years. He has served as a member of the By-Laws, Programs, Publications and Website committees, and is Book Review Editor of the Maryland Genealogical Society Journal. He was the Society’s President from 2011 to 2013. Currently he is the Treasurer and Registrar. He is a Fellow of the Maryland Genealogical Society.
 
Recording Secretary: Betty deKeyser
Betty deKeyser grew up in Charles County, Maryland, and graduated from Western Maryland College. Her interest in genealogy began early and became an avocation when she retired to Anne Arundel County in 1985. Since then she has held office in the Port Tobacco Chapter NSDAR, Anne Arundel Genealogical Society, Mid-Atlantic Germanic Society, and International Society for British Genealogy and Family History. In 2006 she was elected to the Board of the Maryland Genealogical Society where she served two terms as Secretary and one as Vice President before “retiring” in 2016. That year, she was named a Fellow of the Maryland Genealogical Society for her outstanding genealogical scholarship and contributions to the Society and to the genealogical community. She continues to be an active researcher and occasional speaker on topics about genealogy.
