2021 Slate of Candidates
 
President: John Siemon
John Siemon has been on the Executive Board of the Maryland Genealogical Society since 2008 and was President from 2013-2015 and 2017-2019. He had previously served terms as Secretary and Vice-President. John was born and raised in Baltimore. He has been researching his family history for 20 years. His special interests are maps, the Civil War, and Baltimore history and genealogy. All of his family lines have been in Baltimore since 1865, and he has collected many references for Baltimore genealogy.
 
Vice President: Heather O'Hara
Heather O’Hara, a Maryland native, has been researching her family’s history for over fifteen years focusing on Maryland, Virginia, and Pennsylvania as well as Northern Ireland, Germany, and Ukraine. She currently serves as the Vice President of the Maryland Genealogical Society and is responsible for planning our events, including the recently launched Maryland Minutes Webinar Series. Heather is a past Vice President of the Anne Arundel Genealogical Society, where she was responsible for sourcing and booking monthly speakers as well as managing that portion of the society’s monthly meetings.  She has taken several courses with both NGS and NIGS and has undertaken extensive research at both the Maryland State Archives and the Library of Virginia. Heather has attended numerous conferences and seminars on the national, regional, and local levels. In addition to MGS, Heather is also a member of DAR, NGS, The Virginia Genealogical Society, the genealogical/historical societies of Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Harford, and Stafford (VA) Counties, and the Jewish Genealogy Society of Maryland.
 
Treasurer: Allender Sybert
Allender Sybert has been active in genealogical research and in the Maryland Genealogical Society for many years. He has served as a member of the By-Laws, Programs, Publications and Website committees, and is Book Review Editor of the Maryland Genealogical Society Journal. He was the Society’s President from 2011 to 2013. Currently he is the Treasurer and Registrar. He is a Fellow of the Maryland Genealogical Society.
 
Recording Secretary: Edward A. Foreman, Jr.
Edward A. Foreman, Jr. was born and raised in Maryland. He has traced his family back to Tadlow, England. His family arrived in Chestertown, Maryland on the 2nd of July 1674. He has traced his Spencer family back to 1674 (still working on) and presently the Baxter Family, one of the first settlers in Maryland in 1634. He is a member of the SAR (serving as State President in 2010), Society of Colonial Wars in Maryland, Society of the War 1812, Member of the Baltimore County Genealogical Society, Upper Shore Genealogical Society and a Life member of MGS/MCHC.
